Marine Animal Isolation Device
About our Isolation Devices
We have created a wide range of isolation devices to facilitate the quarantine and treatment of a wide range of marine species.
We have included an option to custom build an isolation device to your exact requirments.
Larger versions include additional features such as removable panels and variable entrance size.
The latest addition to the range is especially designed for Spider Crabs and other crustaceans and allows ‘bath treatments’ to be administered in-situ.
Please view the specification below to help identify which is most suitable for your needs.
1-2-1 products and devices should only be used by trained professionals.

- Treatments like coppercare & aquatet can be administered in-situ and, without the additional stress involved with moving an animal.
As you may well know many bath treatments (such as coppercare) can severely impact your filter bacteria, and cause major chemistry spikes.
This bacteria lives within the filter and breaks down harmful ammonia & nitrite that could seriously impact fish health.
The other benefit the device offers is that your site might be short of quarantine space.
Which means that you can have one of these to increase the number of quarantine spaces available.
Please get in touch if you are interested, then we will run the technical details passed you and quote you on the ideal sized device for your aquarium.

Testimonials
Richard Oades – Assistant Curator @ The Deep
“The Deep has used the Marine Animal Isolation Device (MAID) to successfully isolate and re-introduce animals following treatment regimes, to grow on juvenile animals till their release and have established the MAID as an isolated feeding zone for our turtles. It has proved to be a worthy investment for The Deep in the care of our animals.”
Brendan Malone – Sealife Manchester
“We worked with Clem & Maureen to develop a suitable treatment mechanisms for our Giant Japanese Spider Crabs, so we could easily look to schedule in bi-annual pro-active treatments for blackspot commonly found in crustaceans. This design allows us to safely administer aquatet treatments to these wonderful animals, safe in the knowledge that the treatment could be administered without effecting the life support systems. Throughout Clem & Maureen were great in helping discuss plans, ideas & possible solutions.”
Sam Rees MSc (Curator – Skegness Aquarium)
“We’ve just used our mini MAID for the first batch introduction of fish to our main tank, worked a treat! It’s easy to assemble and disassemble, and move about in and out of the water. The mesh is strong enough to add some hiding spots and cope well with the flow. The addition of the Velcro lid means we can suspend it anywhere in the tank. Big thanks to Clem for sorting these modifications out for us!”
Jean-Denis Hibbitt – Breeding Programmes Coordinator – EAZA studbook
“Research by the EAZA European studbook has shown that using a separation pen (such as the MAID) to protect pregnant female blacktip reef sharks significantly increases the survival of new-born pups compared to allowing mothers to give birth in an exhibit surrounded by predators.”
