Stingray Carriers
About our Ray Carriers
Our Ray Carriers aka ‘Ray Trays’ have been designed to assist aquarists in capturing, treating and moving a range of marine animals including Stingrays and Sharks.
We have a range of different carriers available to accommodate animals of different sizes and weights from around 40kg to 600kg.
All include a black mesh carrying bag, fibrous core coated, in fire retardant PVC fabric.
We also have a cover available to further increase security during transport or when diving and bringing an animal to the surface.
The frame is made from Stainless Steel and both the tray and cover are made from a Polyproperlene hard weave webbing (25mm) material.
The larger foldable devices close like a clam which makes for easy storage. They have been carefully designed to be strong and stable and feature a chain and drop pin system to control unwanted opening and closing of the device when manouvering in water.
As an optional extra, we can add your company logo.
Colour note: This item is pictured in black, but due to current raw-material shortages we may supply it in white. Placing your order confirms you accept this possible variation.
1-2-1 products and devices should only be used by trained professionals.

Kristin Coury – National Aquarium Baltimore USA
“I thoroughly enjoy my stingray stretcher we purchased a couple of years ago and have been working with our female P. leopoldi ray to voluntarily enter the stretcher. Thanks for providing such great products!”
Alessandro Marchi – Cold Water and Reptiles Acquario di Genova, Italy
“We, in the past, have bougth a few stretchers and a couple of ray trays from you, and they are excellent. I have also used the The Aquarium Vet Shark Bag successfully, and it’s exactly what we need for moving our sharks! Thank you for your support.”
Scott Hadley – Cluster Curator @ Sealife Nagoya, Japan
“From its inception, SEALIFE Nagoya has been using 1-2-1 Animal Products for all of our aquarium operations. The landing nets, venom defenders, shark stretchers and ray trays have been our strong and sturdy companions which made the opening process of our aquariums that much easier. Very happy with the quality and customer service, we are glad to be business partners with 1-2-1 Animals!”
Asher Berg – Senior Aquarist @ SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium
“Hi Clem, Hope all is well across the pond. We recently had to catch some of our freshwater rays for exams and to relocate them to a new home. We used your ray carriers and the process could not have gone smoother. I cannot speak highly enough of the carriers.”
Michelle Coley – Aquarist – Tech I @ Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center
“We have the sea turtle basket and two ray tray sizes that we use here at the Virginia Aquarium. We love the products from 1-2-1 and they have been such an improvement on our physicals and animal moves. I would say they are absolutely worth the cost in every way. They have excellent customer service and put out an outstanding product.”
Amy Slagoski & Cristy Barrett (Associate curators @ The Florida Aquarium).
“We just want to say that we really love the ray and sea turtle stretchers. They are life changing, not only for us because they make moving large animals easier, but for the animals the stress level has been greatly reduced. You are improving the lives of our animals and we’re grateful to you for that. Will never buy another product to move a ray or turtle. Seriously your stretchers are phenomenal! We couldn’t be happier. Keep up the awesome work!”
Michelle Coley – Aquarist @ Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center
“We love your products here at the aquarium and look forward to many years of continued use. Your ray tray has been immensely helpful in our physical exams of our ray collections! Thank you!”
James Robson – Curator @ Sealife Birmingham
“We now exclusively use the full range of 1-2-1 products for moving our animals between exhibits. They have proven to be reliable, hard wearing and designed with both the user and animal in mind. Having the shark sling, large and small ray tray means we can move everything from the largest shark to the smaller rays without any trouble.”
Shawn Fauth – Aquarist @ National Aquarium, Baltimore
“I am happy to report that we used the stretcher today and it was probably the easiest catch we have ever had! We are all extremely impressed with the ease of use, the security and the safety of that Ray Tray! I had a lot of inquiries about the stretcher today, so I am definitely putting in a good word for you guys!”
Bernardo Nascimento – Aquarium Curator @ Clear Reef International, Fakieh Aquarium, Saudi Arabia
“All products have been received in good condition. The small tray was used with a small to medium sized grouper. I really like it: very easy to manipulate, comfortable and safe for animals and people. We also use it to weight the animal and it really worked well. Well done.”
Chris Brown – Senior Curator SEA LIFE Displays Developments, Weymouth, UK
“I am not surprised you are having more enquiries about your products as I personally have found they make the task of moving delicate animals safer and more professional.”
Lee Jackson – Curator @ Smithsonian’s National Zoo, Washington
“We have just in the last couple of weeks used your product to capture and move a group of very large freshwater stingrays. The net worked beautifully! I will be using it again for a medical procedure on a large Pacu in early December.”
Carey Duckhouse (Displays Curator @ Sealife, Brighton)
“The Ray Tray is an amazingly versatile product. Whatever animal you are moving it supports the whole body protecting from internal damage and reducing stress and therefore also reduces excessive movement. When moving stingrays it not only suitable supports the whole body of the ray, but it also considers the health and safety of staff, cushioning the ray in such a way that risk from the sting is reduced. The Ray Tray is also a fantastic piece of equipment for moving larger, heavier animals, enabling us to move adult Pacu and Pangasius with relative ease.”
Gerhard Beukes – Curator @ Sealife Sydney Aquarium
“I needed an XL Ray tray to move a +250kg Dasyatis brevicaudata, and in no time at all the design was done and this non standard item manufactured in record time. It’s being delivered to me this morning, barely a few weeks after commencing discussions. Thus far I am mightily impressed by their service and will undoubtedly use them again.”
