Sea Turtle Carriers

We have worked closely with the Sealife Group to carefully design two sizes of Sea Turtle Carrier. They both feature a detachable sling which makes it easy for weighing animals.

Comfort for the marine animal is enhanced using a specially designed recycled plastic plate on the inside. Furthermore, the cover ensures that the Sea Turtle feels secure and comfortable, and cannot climb out.

Fitting logos onto both sizes Sea Turtle Carriers (Standard & Extra Strong) is only possible onto the Top Covers - Please enquire for pricing.

The Deep was fortunate to be able to offer a forever home to two Loggerhead Sea Turtles, Senza and Mabouche in 2017.

Both turtles were rescued in the Mediterranean and then rehabilitated at a facility in Italy.

Due to the injuries to their lower jaws, it was determined that they could not be released back into the wild.

Senza and Mabouche both have big personalities and have become an important part of The Deep family.

Working with large animals can be a challenge and we maintain the highest standards for both animals and staff.

Senza weighs in at over 100kg, The Deep sought a way to safely lift and move her when necessary.

This challenge was met by Clem and Maureen at 1-2-1 Animal Handling with the design of a turtle ‘tray’ that allows us to safely lift and handle our turtles.

The construction is sturdy enough to easily handle the weight of our turtles, the materials are good for use in and out of water, and the design allows for staff to have good hand holds around the stretcher to distribute weight and securely carry the occupants.

As the turtles continue to grow, The Deep looks forward to continuing this journey with them and the ongoing support of 1-2-1 Animal Handling.

We have the sea turtle basket and two ray tray sizes that we use here at the Virginia Aquarium. We love the products from 1-2-1 and they have been such an improvement on our physicals and animal moves. I would say they are absolutely worth the cost in every way. They have excellent customer service and put out an outstanding product.

We plan on purchasing the shark bags from them as well as we have had a lot of success using this for large teleost moves and moving and working with our large nurse and sand tiger sharks.

“Just thought I would drop you a quick line to say we’ve used the turtle carrier yesterday to get some weights and it worked fantastically! Soooo much easier to lift and carry them and weighing them was pretty straight forward once they were centred in the tray.

The carrier made the move so smooth and easy that we completed both turtles in about 20 minutes!! They weighed 80Kg and 51Kg!"

Graham Hill - Head of Animal Care and Research (The Deep)

“We just want to say that we really love the ray and sea turtle stretchers.
They are life changing, not only for us because they make moving large animals easier, but for the animals the stress level has been greatly reduced. You are improving the lives of our animals and we're grateful to you for that.

Will never buy another product to move a ray or turtle. Seriously your stretchers are phenomenal! We couldn’t be happier. Keep up the awesome work!"

The Extra Large Sea Turtle Carrier worked perfectly! And she was very comfortable and remained very calm throughout the lifting and manoeuvring. The carrier allowed great access for the veterinarian to get the blood sample she required and the movable straps were perfect. She certainly is huge and we can testify that it works perfectly for a 140kg Loggerhead turtle!
